| Although rodents, particularly house mice, are a common pest in poultry facilities, they can be kept to a manageable level with a consistent, well-managed rodent control program.
Use bait according to Motomco's Bait Rotation Program which kills the initial rodent population and then keeps any new populations under control. Be sure, too, to keep up a fresh supply of bait as rodents will reject rancid or spoiled bait.

| LAYER HOUSES |

Bait with bait Chunx in Tomcat Bait Stations along walls and walkways, or near wall girder support poles - where rodents typically travel. For rats, position bait stations every 30 - 50 feet, and every 8 - 12 feet for mice, depending on activity. Place the Chunx on the bait securing rods to keep bait from being translocated by rodents. |
| |
| On ledges and walkways if mice are a problem, place bait in Tomcat Keyless bait station that holds two bait Chunx or in Tomcat Mouse Bait Station that holds four Chunx. |
| |
| Bait in attics where rodents like to nest. |
| |
| Set up permanent bait stations near entry doors to capture incoming rodents.
Use Tomcat Multiple Catch to monitor mouse activity. These live traps feature a see-through cover that lets you check for mice without removing the lid. They're easy to set and hold up to ten mice. |

| MANURE PITS |
 |
|
Place bait stations along the perimeter walls of manure pits and on wall ledges. Rats and mice nest in the pit and will forage out for food.
Outside of cages place bait in bait stations positioned along the cross member supports so it can't be knocked into the pit and wasted. |

| BROILER AND TURKEY OPERATIONS |
|
 |
| When birds are present, baiting inside is limited to attics, rafters, curtain ledges and other spots high enough where birds can get to the bait. |
|
| |
 |
| |
Use bait during flock turnover and cleanout when the house is empty. Food is unavailable, making bait acceptance very good. Bait as soon as the house is empty, otherwise, rodents will look elsewhere for food. |
| |
| If non-target animals cannot get into the facility, bait with Chunx nailed to rafters or use bulk pellets down burrows. But, be sure to pick up any loose bait before a new flock moves in. |
